My needle and I moved on to another little indigo dyed bag that arrived at our house as a printed calico bag full of bath salts. Here it is on a table in a coffee shop, in progress.
I love the way the silk thread has a little sheen over the matte background of the calico.
This one is stitched with silk thread dyed with cold processed austral indigo (silvery grey), indigo, eucalyptus cinerea exhaust and plum pine.
I like these subtle colours, even though some of them felt really disappointing when first they emerged from the dye. They work beautifully in this context, I think. Another lesson in life from the dye pot!
Local & Bespoke 
Oh my, that does look beautiful! I really do love what you’re doing with embroidery… simple stitches in spirals and circles and lines, making glorious ripples of colour over textured backgrounds. It reminds me a bit of some gorgeous Indigenous artwork I saw when I visited Alice Springs a few years ago.

Thanks… I am delighted to think that these little bags that someone worked to make will not be treated as disposable but will have new lives that will be lengthened and made more pleasurable by this stitching.

The second one reminded me of a Semolina Bread from Italy, yes always thinking of my stomach 🙂 The circles are like a Mandala and nice also.
